Coats on!

Edited by: Florrie Clarke of Intrinsically Florrie
Change is literally in the air, bringing with it the cold and rain that requires a wardrobe transition. I must confess to being ill prepared myself and as a consequence have been drenched in the freezing cold. Time to get out your boots and coat because fall is well and truly here. I may stick stubbornly to my floral dresses all year round, but the difference is in the layers. So I'm on the look out for fabulous tights and there are a couple of lovely posts to help me choose or even DIY my own style.

Awesome giveaway at Preppy Princess

The Preppy Princess is usually too bright and too commercialised for me to follow regularly, since I tend to be more focused on personal style blogs, street style blogs, and discussions of traditional clothing. No denying I am prep, yet there comes a point when too much pink and kelly green starts to assail the eyes.

That being said, the Preppy Princess has a truly awesome giveaway going on right now for another twenty four hours. While I have no inkling of who follows my blog, perhaps this giveaway is something you would like.

For me? I just want the Vinyard Vines whale tie and the original copy of The Official Preppy Handbook, thanks. The rest (including the much panned True Prep) someone else can have.

Enter here.

Hats Off!

Edited by: Thom of The Sunday Best

With fashion weeks in full swing it would have been easy for the IFB fold to post multiple photos and call it a day. Hats off to these dedicated writers for continuing to pump out original content on often thorny issues (negative blogging anyone?). In particular it was nice to finally see more than one male blogger throwing his hat into the ring. Dressed for Dinner - we salute you and your lovely beard.

Boat Shoes Out; Weejuns In

It's been unseasonably warm here in Kyoto lately. September was absolutely mid-summer, and when it's not raining here in October, the temperatures are in the high seventies, or even breaking eighty. This, of course, means I've still been wearing my madras shorts and Sperry Topsiders almost any time I am not working. However, if there's one thing Kyoto and Texas have in common, it is the tendency for cold snaps to appear out of nowhere.

Despite the seventy-seven degree weather today, I have finally turned my thoughts to khakis and not madras, rugby shirts instead of polos, heavy oxford button downs from Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren as opposed to thin and airy broadcloth from Uniqlo.

The next posts, when they appear, will be about fall, and reflect themes of classic campus looks, starting with the original penny loafers, G. H. Bass Weejuns.

No pennies necessary.
